Torggy email icqFavorite Parking spots07-22-2001
I know, it's another thread but it is time for a change. No politics this time. I could not resist this topic, and knowing some of the libidos in here it could be fun.

My favorite parking spot was in the big field next to the Duluth pumping station down by Lakewood road. It offered a small road through the field to a secluded spot by the lake. Of course in winter it was not plowed and other places had to be found. But Minnesota in winter comes with its own beer cooler, which is very advantages to heightening and prolonging the parking experience. Of course timing is everything and if you leave your beer in the snowbank to long you end up peeling it and eating it like a popsicle.

I bet The. White. Chevy. and Falcon Edie knew a few of the best places. If I remember correctly the original white chevy was a station wagon. A fine vehicle for exploring parking spots. Did it have astro turf in the back? OOPS I said I was not going to get political. Oh well astro turf was not around then anyway. I bet you had one of those old army surplus blankets. The ones made out of wool that could be used as a brillo pad if necessary. I can remember many a squeal of pain as one of those came in contact with some tender part of male or female anatomy.

Any way where was your favorite spot?

TWC email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-22-2001
Well, gee, Wally, wait till I tell Eddie Haskell about this thread.

Just to set the record straight, the original TWC was not a station wagon, although I wouldn't swear that astro turf wasn't back there at one time or another. God knows there was enough other junk back there.

Anyone who really knows me knows that I've always preferred natural grass - for baseball, football, inhaling or any other recreational activity.

As for my favorite parking spot, frankly, I don't choose to share that. Who knows? I may need it next year.

Peace, brothers and sisters.

Donald email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
I took many a lady down to Brighton Beach. I used to call it the Makin' Bacon road.

Fritz email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
#1- The Nursery. #2- Down by the old coal piles under the tracks by the power plant. #3- On the tracks at Wales crossing. Only did that once but it was exciting.

Plywood email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
I could never tell who had a better moustache in high school. Skipper or Margie Giacomini. Anyway, as far as parking spots go, you could never go wrong with one of the bays: Agate, Burlington or Flood. Flood Bay was excellent except when the IGA boys were throwing keg parties there...too many people, and the cops always busted them.

John F. Kennedy email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
1. Air Force One

2. The Lincoln Bedroom

3. Frank Sinatra's driveway

Torggy email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Wow Fritz a guy would have to be "quick" to park on the railroad tracks

Bill "First Penis" Clinton email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
I always preferred my favorite cigar store.....

I also preferred wherever Hillary was not.....

Arkansas Governors Mansion also was a cool spot....

Former Res email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
I always ranked the teachers parking lot behind the high school as one of the best spots. Nobody ever went there.

If I did not go there, then the 5th hole on the old golf course was a good spot.

By the water tower also could be a good spot, but you had to watch out for the kids that lived in the area.

Fritz email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Torggy, I lay no claim to being a great lover. For me to quilfy as 60 minute man back then I'd have to include the time spent at dinner, not to mention the pleading. As I recall, I just decided that I had driven as far as I could without addressing the situation at "HAND".

Plywood email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Three elderly ladies are excited about their first Cardinal's baseball game.

They smuggle a bottle of Jack Daniels into the game. The game is real

exciting and they are enjoying themselves drinking Jack Daniels mixed

with soft drinks. Soon they realize that the bottle of Jack Daniels

is almost gone and the game has a lot of innings to go.

Using the clues given, what inning is the game in and what is the

status of the game?

Answer: It's the bottom of the fifth and the bags are loaded!

Kitty email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Fritz, I agree with Torggy about having to be quick on the tracks, but man, it sounds really uncomfortable, too! The pleading time was funny!

Plywood, I printed out the joke to tell to the baseball fans at the bar tonight...too funny!

Falcon Edie, Two-Z and happy, you guys better post on this thread now that I've broken the ice!

Falcon Edie email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Ok-so TWC is too much of a gentleman to "kiss and tell" so to speak. I'll spill the beans- Big Rock after dark. A little side road close to the airport in TH. And that's all I've got to say about that (from Forest Gump).

Drifter email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Man, with all these active threads, I don't know where to post. But this thread reminds me of a classic Simpsons episode, where they do a spoof of the movie "Officer and a Gentleman." Homer begins to carry Marge off in his arms during work. Everyone is cheering, one of the co-workers says, "Hey, what'll we tell the boss??" Homer says (with a proud look on his face), "Tell him I'm going to the back seat of my car, with the woman I love, and I won't be back for TEN MINUTES!!!"

Drifter email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Torggy, I can't let this thread continue without pointing out that in your opening post you said that your favorite parking spot was in the big field next to the Duluth pumping station. Was there more pumping going on in the field or at the station??

TWC email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Well, so much for the trip to Big Rock I had planned to make when we returned North. Someone else can have our reservation.

Actually, if we're talking about modern era places to park, you could probably go to the VFW lot at virtually any time of day or night and do any damn thing you want. It appears nobody goes there anymore.

Skipper email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Chev, actually I was in the Vets over Heritage Days, had a couple drafts after golf and then went to the parade,am going back the weekend of the 3rd to caddie for Cruiser in the big tourney, if I see the Captain I will say Hi!....why does Falcon Edie call you two stroke Louie? Ivan Parked with my wife behind the high school, never liked the bastard......

TWC email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-23-2001
Skipmeister, you must have me confused with one of Falcon Edie's suitors in her younger days. Nice to see you'll be indulging in some foreplay (so to speak) during the first weekend in August.

By the way, reliable sources tell me that the parking lot opposite Betty's Pies works well. Of course, It wouldn't be a good idea to show up there on a Saturday afternoon in July when Betty is serving up a lot of pie. But if you pick the right time in the right month, you will enjoy privacy, if not the comfort of astro turf or a wool blanket.

Captain America email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-24-2001
So TWC, just what "right time in the month" does Betty serve up a lot of her pie?

Believe it or not, the end of the breakwater is a cold, but secluded space most nights. I *might* have kissed a girl or two there, but I'm not saying for sure.

Skipper and Cruiser, I have a guess as to who you are, but it's only a guess...you'll have to introduce yourselves over a brew dog at the VFW!

Skipper email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-24-2001
Torg I have been to said pumping station, the old ski trail was secluded and we had a place in Segog, I can't really remember where but it had a lot of electrical stuff behind a fence, we called this the behive because of the constant buzzing of the electrical eqiupment....

Skipper email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-24-2001
True Story! Ivan, Cruiser and I were at Flood Bay in the winter sitting in the truck passing around the spirits, Cruiser had a girlfriend and the only reason he was with us was because she had other plans that night, well tucked back out of the cops sight lines we were talking and imbibing when a truck pulls in and stops facing the lake, after awhile the two figures commence to liplock, well Cruiser was feeling no pain and very brave, he recognized the truck and walked over to say "Hi", well when the light from the cab came on, lo and behold the recipient of the lip locks was Cruiser's gal, after a few expletives pointed at both parties the door was slammed and the truck sped away, needless to say they never dated again, Ivan and I laughed like a son of a bitch.....

Falcon Edie email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-24-2001
Two-Z. Thank you for successfully closing out the two threads. They needed to be put to sleep.

Torggy email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-24-2001
Wow Two-Z sure put in some overtime today. I envy you your trips to TH. It might be neat to see a picture of John A. or Minnehaha. The courthouse is such a neat building too. I guess just some of the normal mondain things. Like the Dairy Queen or the Edna G, or the trains.

That is a great story Skipper. That sure can make a guys day go bad in a hurry.

Speaking of bad days. Try being a Twins fan here in Mariner country right now. Hope something changes because I am going tho go to the Friday Twins-Mariner game in Seattle. It sure would be nice to see the Twins get at least one back.

Kitty email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Poor Cruiser! Then to have his so-called friends, Skipper and Ivan, LAUGH at him! Skipper, shame on you (Ivans not here, or I'd chew him out, too)! Cruiser probably still carries scars from that incident.

Drifter email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Great story, Skipper. You'll have to fill me in on the identity of the ex-girlfriend. There were so many girlfriends in Cruiser's High School career, it's hard to even come up with a guess. Everyone loves a man in uniform (IGA uniform, that is).

Captain America email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
I feel pain for the Cruiser!

Plywood email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Skipper - Ivan told me to tell you that he remembers that night at Flood Bay and he still laughs like a son of a bitch about it. Ivan's in a permanent detox center watching reruns of Three's Company. His return is doubtful.

Fritz email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
O.K. It just hit 100 degrees here in Ohio and I'm dying. Somebody from somewhere tell me how cool it is there.

Nugget email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Fritz, its 78 degrees with 44% humidity in the Twin Cities. We just crawled out from under a long stretch of 90 degree plus days with high humidity. Relief is on the way...

Former Res email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
In the mid-90's in Illinois, has been for some time along with high humidity.

Heading to TH Thursday....can't wait to get home and see the big lake, my family, and drink a beer that does not cost $6.

webman email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
It has been 95-100 degrees in central Arkansas. I am planning a trip up to TH. I will be there from 8/16 until 8/21 or so. I will really be sick of the heat here by then. I hope the weather is decent there. I hope to play a round at the TH golf course. I am a piss-poor golfer, but that hasn't stopped me yet.

DOM email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Hey Captain America, I loved the joke about Betty's Pies and that time of the month. Nothing better than the days of parking by the Edna G. Keep the motor running and the 8-track player humming. Click-click.

Torggy email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Fritz, It is 70 degrees here north of Seattle. The humidity is low and there is a on shore breeze blowing. It might get up to 80 for a short time tomorrow but right now it feels great here.

Falcon Edie email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-25-2001
Like just about everyone else here, the weather has been hot and humid, with very little rain. Got about 5 or 6 inches of the wet stuff yesterday in a 2 hour time period and the weather is beautiful today. High's in the upper 70's with a nice northerly breeze. Should have more of the same tomorrow. TWC is down in Dallas for work and it sounds like it's really bad down there.

Fred email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
Yesterday afternoon felt like Sept. in TH..a nice northeast wind off the lake. It was probably 55 when I got off the golf course last night. It's going to be a perfect 65-70 today (let's hope).

Fritz email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
Thanks all for the weather reports. What I wouldn't have given to be at the slides on Stewart River or under the falls at Gooseberry this past week. Former Res, everything is relevant. My job takes me all over the world. I was in Bermuda a couple of months ago. Paid $15.00 for a beer and it was flat. I'll be in Hawaii in three weeks, and Europe in September. I'll check out the local brews and send in a report. In the immortal words of Tom T. Hall "I like beer".

Drifter email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
"It makes me a jolly good fellow..."

Davesnothome email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001

TWO-Z email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
FRED, DO YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE BUT GOLF?

LUCKY.

Fred email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
Two-Z, I wish that was all I did! I try to get out about 2-3 times a week after work, and hopefully once or twice on the weekends, whether it be in TH or someplace else. Our season is much to short here, so I have to take advantage of every nice day we get.

joseph p wapner email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
dont cry for the cruiser.

Rusty the bailiff email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
Doug Lewellyn was an asshole.

Skipper email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-26-2001
Fred, I got sucked into watching "An Officer and a Gentelman" don't know how it happened....

Nugget email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
Skipper, I almost fell into the same trap but was able to pull myself away just after Mayo kicked ass on the obstacle course the first time...I'm free...I'm free...

Fred email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
Skipper, it must have been a weak moment! It's so refreshing to hear that others suffer from the same problem.

Is anyone else a West Wing fan? The Wed. episode was a new one to me and I thought is was very good & funny.

Fred email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
I am a HUGE West Wing fan...I thought it was the best-written show to come along in years...

Pond Boys email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
West Wing is good but it lacks hot women. Son of a Beach is our favorite show on TV. Hooters is our favorite restaurant.

TWO-Z email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
FRED YOUR SO LUCKY YOU CAN STILL GET THAT MUCH FREE TIME TO GOLF.

SKIPPER, I THINK YOU KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED. ARE YOU IN DENIAL? HA HA

Plywood email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
I must've been watching TV at the same time as Skipper and Nugget, I saw the beginning of An Officer and a Gentleman, where Mayo's old man blows chow in the toilet and then cracks open another beer. He'd be an excellent recruit for the Indian Lake outings.

Indian Lake Gods email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
There are enough "Hurls" echoing through the woods on certain weekends. We don't need more.

Electric Jim email icqRe: Favorite Parking spots07-27-2001
