What is a FAQ?
A FAQ is a
Frequently Asked Question.

What is the meaning of
life?
Good question.
I do not know the answer.
Who are all of you
people?
We are just a
strange and wonderful conglomeration of folks that ended up on
this site. Some of us are past or present Two Harborites, some
are from, or reside in other area communities. There are
others that have other types of ties to, or interests in the
area.
What is the capital of
Uruguay?
Montevideo is the
capital of Uruguay. For more information check out this

What's with the names
on the bulletin board?
Most are nicknames.
Some folks feel a little
more free to post their thoughts and opinions when they post
under a nickname. There are also people who freely
disclose their identities. My feeling is that whatever
is comfortable for you is fine with me. Oh, most of us know who everybody
is, some of us know each other in "real-life," but
all of us seem to feel a certain freedom in our
pseudo-anonymity. You do not need a username or
password for most of the bulletin board, but
if you email me to register, you do get access to a few
extras. There is also a section of the bulletin board
reserved for Registered Users only. Registration for that part
requires that your name be used.
Why was this site
created?
This site started
out as sort of a knee-jerk reaction to the censoring of the
bulletin board that was operated by the Lake County News
Chronicle. It used to be fun on that site, but a do-gooder or
two can really raise havoc with the right to express an
opinion.
So no censoring on
this site's bulletin board?
That answer has an
"it depends" in it. No the site is not censored per
se, but truly vulgar things are unacceptable and may be
removed from the board.
Do you
accept advertising on your site?
We place general
interest links on the front page and a few on the bulletin
board. All links and logos are placed without charge
(not that I would refuse a contribution from a business that
derived a benefit from this free advertising).
What
is Arbley?
This
never started out to be about my childhood name, but somehow
it got away from me. I spent alot of time with my Grandpa Roy
while I was growing up. He would ask me what my name was, and
somehow it came out "Arbley." Of course it stuck,
but was known and used only by my immediate family.
When
I first got an internet capable computer, I used AOL for my
ISP. I soon discovered that every conceivable variation of my
name was already in use. That was when I thought, "Surely
there is not another Arbley in the world." Funny thing, I
was actually right. Later, when I first started looking for a
bulletin board service, I found one with forumcities (now
defunct). When I was signing up for their service, I had to
chose a name and a password. Since I was already using Arbley,
I just chose that name. Well imagine my surprise when they
incorporated that name in my bulletin board address ( I really
did not know any better back then ).
I
did not give it much further thought until some of the
participants on that board started referring to the board as
"Arbley" and to themselves as "Arblies" or
"Arbleyites." I knew then that my Grandpa Roy was
smiling.
I
am honored and amused that this has sort of taken on a life of
its own. The regulars on this site have grown into a wonderful
community of friends. The circle continues to widen as
newcomers to the forum arrive. It just gets better and better.
