| Sorry, Torggy, in '76 the Vikes did beat the Rams in the NFC Championship game, but it was in Minnesota. The Vikes did beat the Rams the following year in LA (the Mud Bowl) in the divisional playoffs. Here's a big hint -- The win (on the road) sent Tarkenton to his 1st Super Bowl. It is also the only time the Vikes have won the NFC Championship game on the road.... Drifter | ||

No, thank god I was not in a southeast asian country in the early 70's. My draft notice was on its way when I joined the navy and became what they call an east coast sailor. | Torggy -- Thanks for that website address. Good site! Captain -- We all painfully remember that NFC Title game following the strike (and scab) year of '87. In defense of Darrin Nelson's drop, few people remember that even if he had caught the ball and gotten into the end zone (he was on the one yard line, near sidelines), we would have tied Washington and gone to OT at best. You are right, we should have won that game... The other thing I remember from that game is Pat Summerall had a bad cold, his voice was awful. Either that, or he had a bad hangover from the night before. Ivan -- Your bill is in the mail for all that vodka you drank at my house while watching the Vikes Saturday. | Ditto's to both Cap and Drifty. Shows terrible things can and do happen anywhere. Can hardly wait for Sunday morning. Kind of lucky here on the west coast, the game comes on at 9:30, so you don't have to wait all day for it. Can be kind of tough though depending on your saturday night. By the time you get up get breakfast and cleaned up its time for a Lucky Lager. Weather doesn't look to bad back in New York. That can only help. Hope it holds. The Carter white line tap dance is hard to do on a frozen field. Go Vikes!!!! | ||
