A friend and I were trick or treating in the teeth of a cold late October rainstorm, (naturally) and decided we could make a larger and faster haul if we simply leaped over the short hedges that grow between some of the properties on about 10th Ave or so, near State Road. That would save that troublesome walk back to the sidewalk near the street. Much to our surprise, the first one we jumped was planted on the edge of the adjacent driveway area which was about five feet lower than the yard from which we launched. There was wet candy everywhere, but we were uninjured. I forget how we were dressed, but am pretty sure that due to the weather we looked like lobster fishermen from Maine.

It was my 2nd or 3rd Grade Halloween - (Geez, that was a fun time for Halloween - even scary!) a girlfriend and I started out at Entzion's Cabins....it started to snow. After we tricked and treated the houses around and to Torgersen's, we headed back home to change into our boots. The snow was fallin' down; you know the kind of snow-the night is lit up and the snowflakes are so big- you can't see very far in front of you and the flakes are stickin' to your eyelashes...no wind - and it's warm enough that you're sweatin' underneath your snowsuit but your nose and cheeks are cold and rosy red......it was sooooooo beautiful. By the time we hoofed it down around Lusk's and back to the cabins, the snow was up to our knees. I do believe that was the best Halloween I ever celebrated. (motormouthed it, didn't I?)

Our neighbor lady in the town we lived in before we moved to TH used to make home made fudge every year for the kids she knew. Another lady, the dentists wife made us actually do a trick before we'd get a treat! What the hell was she thinking? lol More recent years was the Halloween of 91......HUGE snow storm in the cities. I pulled the boys on a sled to just a couple neighbors and by 9 or 10 we had over a foot of snow. I think EVERYONE in the state remembers that Halloween!

TOP TEN REASONS WHY TRICK OR TREATING IS BETTER THAN SEX
10) You are guaranteed to get at least a little something in the sack.
9) If you get tired, you can wait 10 minutes and go at it again.
8) The uglier you look, the easier it is to get some.
7) You don't have to compliment the person who gives you some.
6) It's O.K. when the person you're with fantasizes you're someone else, because you are.
5) Forty years from now you'll still enjoy candy.
4) If you don't like what you get, you can always go next door.
3) It doesn't matter if the kids hear you moaning and groaning.
2) Less guilt the morning after.
1) YOU CAN DO THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD.

... One Halloween this woman opens her door to find the most adorable little girl, with golden blond curly hair and the biggest blue eyes.
She was dressed as an Angel, and was just delightful. The woman said, "what are you supposed to say sweetheart?"
The little girl looks up at the woman and says "Twick or Tweat!"
The woman thinks this is just adorable, and she calls her husband to come to the door. The woman say to the child, "Go ahead honey say it just one more time."
Once again the little Angel looks up and says, "Twick or Tweat!"
The husband agrees with his wife, this little Angel is just the cutest thing. The woman picks an apple from the Treat Bowl, shines it up with her apron, and drops it into the little girl's Treat Bag.

The little Angel looks in her bag then looks up at the woman and says, "Thanks a lot lady, you just broke my f**king cookies!"

A cabbie picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and
the cab driver won't
stop staring at her. She asks him why is he staring
and he replies, "I have
a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you."
She answers, "My dear son, you cannot offend me. When
you're as old
as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get
a chance to see
and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's
nothing you could say
or ask that I would find offensive."
"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss
me."
She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about
that: #1, you have
to be single and #2 you must be Catholic."
The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I am
single and I'm Catholic too!"
The nun says "OK, pull into the next alley." He does
and the nun fulfills his
fantasy. But when they get back on the road, the cab
driver starts crying.
"My dear child," said the nun, "why are you crying?"
"Forgive me sister, but I have sinned. I lied, I must
confess, I'm married
and I'm Jewish."
The nun says, "That's OK, my name is Kevin and I'm on
my way to a
Halloween party."

A mama mole, a papa mole, and a baby mole all live in a little mole hole.

One day the papa mole sticks his head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says,"Yum! I smell maple syrup!"

The mama mole sticks her head out of the hole, niffs the air and says "Yum! I smell honey!"

The baby mole tries to stick his head out of the hole to sniff the air, but can't because the bigger moles are in the way so he says, "Geez, all I can smell is....

WANNA PLAY SLEUTH...HOW MANY OF THESE CAN YOU FIGURE OUT?
1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

3. There are two plastic jugs filled with water.
How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

4. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away?

5. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

6. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out!
Try to do so without any coaching!

Answers below

1. The third. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead.

2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband,
developed it, and hung it up to dry.

3. Freeze them first. Take them out of the jugs and put the ice in the
barrel. You will be able to tell which water came from which jug.

4. The answer is Charcoal. In Homer Simpson's words: hmmmm... Barbecue.

5. Sure you can: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow!

6. The letter "e", which is the most common letter in the English language, does not appear once in the long paragraph.

We share an office with one other person. She is a very intelligent girl. Her little one comes to visit us every once in awhile. She has her daddies big blue eyes. And that annual was from your senior year. Nice 'do !

TWC - its okay. Yes, it was old. But aren't we all? Oh. Thats right. Some of us are older than the rest. If you're going for the Geritol you might as well grab that support hose and the suppositories too honey. How many Depends come in a package now anyway? Back from a short fishing trip to Lake Powell and now to get ready for a two week trip back there next week with the guys for some serious bass fishing and camping out. Only hope the weather is warm enough for some cold beers.

YOU MIGHT BE FROM MINNESOTA IF...
YOU MEASURE THE DISTANCE IN MINUTES, OR BEERS
WEATHER IS 80% OF YOUR CONVERSATION
SNOW TIRES CAME STANDARD ON YOUR CAR
YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
5% OF YOUR GRADUATING CLASS WENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA
YOU KNOW MORE THAN ONE PERSON WHO HAS HIT A DEER
YOU KNOW WHAT AND WHERE DINKYTOWN IS
PERKINS WAS A POPULAR HANGOUT IN HIGH SCHOOL
YOU HAVE NO PROBLEM SAYING OR SPELLING MINNEAPOLIS
YOU CAN LIST ALL THE DALES
YOU HATE FARGO(movie) BUT REALIZE THAT A LOT OF YOUR FAMILY TALKS THAT WAY
YOU GET MAD AT PEOPLE WHO THINK FARGO IS IN MINNESOTA
YOUR SCHOOL CLASSES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED BECAUSE OF SNOW OR COLD
YOU ASSUME WHEN YOU SAY "THE CITIES" PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
YOU HAVE TRIED BOILED FISH IN LYE AT CHRISTMAS
YOU KNOW THE 2 SPORTS-RELATED REASONS WHY WE HATE DALLAS
NOTHING GETS YOU MADDER THAN SEEING A GREEN BAY STICKER ON A MN CAR
YOU KNOW WHAT UFF-DA MEANS AND HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY
YOU'RE A LOYAL TARGET SHOPPER
YOU'VE LICKED FROZEN METAL
THE ONLY REASON YOU GO TO WISCONSIN IS TO GET FIREWORKS, TO BUY BEER ON
SUNDAYS OR YOU GOT BAD DIRECTIONS
YOU WEAR SHORTS WHEN IT'S 50 DEGREES IN MARCH, BUT BUNDLE UP AND BITCH IN
AUGUST WHEN IT GOES BELOW 60 DEGREES.
YOU KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE MORE FISHING POLES THAN TEETH
YOU HAVE BEEN LOST FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR IN ST. PAUL
WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE OPENER YOU ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT CANS
YOU HAVE GONE TRICK OR TREATING IN 3 FEET OF SNOW
YOU CARRY JUMPER CABLES IN YOUR CAR
YOU DRINK POP, NOT SODA
IN A CONVERSATION YOU HEARD SOMEONE SAY "YAH, SURE, YOU BETCHA" AND YOU
DIDN'T LAUGH
EVERYONE YOU KNOW HAS A CABIN
YOU KNOW THAT LAKE WOBEGON ISN'T REAL AND YOU KNOW WHO MADE IT UP.
YOU VOTED FOR A PRO WRESTLER FOR GOVERNOR... AND HE WON

The Twins lost big time yesterday. Lets hope they got that out of their system. I got to go to Oakland in a week and a half. It would be nice to laugh at them instead of be laughed at. Besides if Oakland is out of the playoffs it would be easier to find a hotel room

Fritz, nice bear!

In case youwere wondering where to make the Pilgrimage
News Tribune
Oct. 4, 1982
St. Urho won't be forgotten -- not if Hugh Mellin of New York Mills, Minn., has anything to say about it. Figuring the Finnish saint had to be buried somewhere, Mellin has established a gravesite on Finn Creek near New York Mills.

I think on my next visit to Minnesota I well have to include this attraction.

I have it on good authority that St. Urho is buried beneath the floor of Apollo Pizza in Finland, Minnesota. I've personally sen his ghost. He usually appeared to me in the spring time, sometime late in the evening opening day of inland fishing season.

Hi all! I just got back from a nearly week long trip to Chicago. All day meetings 8-6 on Social Security and Medicare. My brain is full! Although while there I was able to take a very nice boat cruise out on Lake Michigan and back up the river into Chicago. It was beautiful it was during sunset about 84 degrees and no bugs what a way to relax.

Have a great weekend!

Sisg, I take it you work with S.S. & Medicare. If so, I would be interesting in getting your advise on an insurance switch I am thinking about. I have been retired for 2 1/2 years and am with an HMO with Blue Shield 65 Plus. Considering switching to something that gives us a little more choice in what doctor we can go to. If you can be of any help, I can arrange to get you my e-mail address through Webby.

hey Hap, who was the Nelly Belly you visited in Washington State in 1978? Remember that and you have the answer to the chatroom mystery.

The Drifter was in the chatroom last night. Said he was going to the Twins game today. I told him that if the Twins lose today it was his fault! If we ask nice he might even grace us with some words of wit.

Nelly, if you happen to find the board, which I hope you do....how have you been? I think of you often! I knew it was you as soon as you said you moved in 9th grade....can't wait to hear from you!

How's the rest of this wonderful arbley crew? Tail, are you gonna get in trouble tonight? Tonight is my baby boy's going away party....oh, he also just let me know that he has changed his field...he's going into special forces...after bootcamp, he leaves for Washington - a bit more scary than mp.

Have a great weekend all!

TWINS WIN!!! Guess we have to let Drifty off the hook. What a great 4th inning!! I think I saw Drifty catch that 2nd inning homerun by Oakland and throw it back onto the field. Way to go Drifty!

Hap, hope the party is fun. Sounds like the kid is all gung-ho. He'll be just fine. Wait till you see the man that comes back.

Happy - Me? In trouble? Hardly. I went to Bayfield today for the apple fest. Beautiful day!! Oh man you guys.....picture THE nicest fall day you can imagine and that was today! Sun making the water sparkle...sailboats in the bay, leaves turning those gorgeous colors...it was perfect. Actually ran into a few other people from TH there. Now, I'm going to watch a movie and fall asleep. Big day tomorrow.

Drifter - it was great to see your name up on the chatboard last night. Thanks for stopping in.

Torggy my boy - been so busy here lately....I feel badly I don't have the time to chat as much with you. Hope you're behaving.

hap, send your email address to me at torggy@twoharborsforum.com I have Nelly's address for you.

Nelly to post on the board you have to get a login from webby at webmaster@twoharborsforum.com drop him an email with your email and he will take care of it.

Tail, me behave!? Hell no! Been very busy here also. So much to do to get ready for winter. Sounds like a beautifull fall day. That is a great area. I drove through there this summer, loved it.

Bassman, sorry, I know Gene Autry was a nice guy and everything but as long as the Twins are in they are who I have to go with. After that it don't matter much.
